The journey begins

June 2011, I graduated from Massachusetts School of Law. I took the bar exam and unfortunately did not pass. Naturally I was upset and defeated.  Instead of trying again I gave up and convinced myself I was fine with just having my law degree. The truth is that was a lie. I found myself deep down still wanting the opportunity to conquer and pass that exam. I have witnessed my friends and former classmates conquer this task some having to do it more than once. Now it is my turn to do the same. Now 3 years later I begin the journey again. Massachusetts bar exam 2015 here I come!

Broaden my horizons

Yesterday one of my co-workers asked me if I wouldn’t mind taking a walk with her to pick up a few items at a supply store for one of our new hires. She was looking to create a welcome gift basket. I agreed to go(it was a nice summer day).

We found our way to The Bees Knees Supply store. From the outside In,thought “what is this?”, “what is she going to find here?” When we walked in I immediately spotted some honey jars. I instantly developed a confused look on my face as I wasn’t sure what my co-worker was trying to accomplish. As we walked further into the store I discovered they had some really interesting knick knacks and food options. Some of these products were locally made which was also a nice element.

Its amazing what you find when you open your eyes. Being exposed to new things can be a great experience. Let’s just say I will be back again.

CMC Virtual Assistance

CMC Virtual Assistance is my vision which has been in my head for some time. Over the last several months I have worked on developed  this vision, concept, “my baby” as some would call it.

CMC Virtual Assistance is a virtual assistant business geared towards providing social media maintenance to small businesses. As we all know social media has become a way of life any for a small business owner staying up to date with daily posts, video, pictures, etc can be very time consuming. This is where my business comes in!

I would be lying if I said I have been nervous and at times second guessed myself which translated in not actively promoting this business venture I have created, but this is a vision I have to share and bring to fruition.

Women can have it all…or can we?

I was getting ready to write about this very topic but Demetria Lucas of A Belle in Brooklyn and The Root beat me to it.

The articles discussed this now popular topic according to the thoughts of Pepsi’s CEO Indra Nooyi. Nooyi took the position that “she didn’t think women could have it all-whatever all means…”

Where has the interest on this question come from? Why now? There may be some women who feel they have it “all” already. Who are we to say they don’t have it already?

I am sure this will not be the last we hear of this question.

Summer time ready….

Seems like its been a few weeks since my last post. Between my last post and now I have been going going going. My body said “pump your brakes” Now I am in a space of relaxation and reflection. Te summer time has arrived and I am ready to soak up all the sun.

Time to catch up

These last few weeks have been busy and fun filled with various activities and just every day life stories.

First, April 20 my mother and I were fortunate enoughto participate as volunteers for this year’s Boston Marathon!!! It was absolutely an amazing fun filled, and inspiring event.

This past weekend I attended the Next Generation Women of Color Summit for the Young Black Women’s Society (YBWS). YBWS is an organization I am apart of which focuses on the professional and personal development of young girls and women. Our summit is an annual event with a jam packed day of dynamic speakers, breakout sessions and wonderful inspiring women of color. I definitely found myself thinking about ways in which to better myself and how I can challenge myself moving forward. Basically how I can be a better me!
